SCIENCE
Junior Science
Science, as outlined by the Australian Curriculum provides students with the opportunities to develop and understanding of scientific concepts and processes, acquire and construct scientific knowledge, analyse the contribution science makes to our society and how it applies to our everday processes. Through science, students develop critical thinking and inquiry skills that allows them to explore scietntific phenomena, collect and observe data and draw evidence based conclusions using scientifc language (ACARA 2015).
"Science is a dynamic, collaborative and creative human endeavour arising from our desire to make sense of our world through exploring the unknown, investigating universal mysteries, making predictions and solving problems" (ACARA 2015).
VCE Biology
VCE biology draws on "specialised fields of bioscience" and makes connections within these fields and other disciplines of science in order to explore past and present life aswell as life forms that may exist beyond Earth. Through this course, students explore critical issues that arise in their own lives and society and use inquiry skills to make decisions about their own heath and public health. "Students will build and understanding of the interconnectedness of living things and their environment" and through their own values and beliefs students will "identify the strengths and limitations of science, respect evidence" and take on the viewpoint of others" (VCAA 2013).
